Family Roots Farm

Eloy, Arizona

Family Roots Farm began the way a lot of good things do, with a family wanting better food on its own table. Mark and Annette Smith started the farm to raise quality beef for their family, and as the idea grew they realized that going back to their ranching and cattle raising roots could feed a lot of other families too.

The Smiths are fourth generation farmers and ranchers in the Eloy area, so this is home and the roots run deep. Quality American Wagyu became the family focus in late 2021, and the original herd came home to Eloy in December 2022. The herd has grown steadily since, built with careful breeding, including their full blood Wagyu bull Mi Torito Michitani Bond.

This is a full circle operation. The cattle eat a diet grown on the family’s own crops: alfalfa, corn, barley, bermuda, triticale and oats. Supplements and minerals are local, the processing is local and USDA inspected, and the beef carries no hormones. The manure and straw the herd produces is being composted back onto the family’s crops, regenerating the same ground the cattle are fed from.
