Forrest Ranch Beef
Slaton, Texas
Forrest Ranch Beef exists so that people who are not ranchers can eat the beef ranchers keep for themselves. The family’s dream was simple: share the high quality beef they have always eaten, free of antibiotics and hormones and cared for by ranchers from beginning to end.
The ranch is a legacy of family. It has been in the Forrest family for over 100 years and is now raising up its sixth generation of ranchers. Amber, who grew up working the ranch beside her father Lynn and showing steers in 4-H with her sisters, and Casey, who worked as an EMT for 25 years before coming to the ranch full time, are the heart of the operation, along with their daughters Clara and Alice. Casey also runs the ranch’s wildlife and hunting program and organizes youth hunts through Texas Parks and Wildlife. Lynn and Sheila Forrest, Pop and Gran, taught the family the value of the work.
The cattle live out their lives on ranch pasture, grass raised and grain supplemented to finish. Nothing is given hormones or antibiotics, and the beef is sold in the sizes a family actually buys, from an eighth of a beef up to a whole one.
