Holland Cattle Company

Holland Cattle Company works its own ranch in Burnet County and partners with other Central Texas ranches to supply pasture raised beef from the original Samuel Ely Holland Ranch. Samuel Ely Holland bought 1,280 acres on Hamilton Creek in 1848 and built the first permanent home in the county, put in the first cultivated farm and strung the first wire fence. He and Peter Kerr are credited with bringing the first white faced cattle into that part of Texas.

Every generation since has kept the same reputation for raising top quality livestock, and the family is now more than 175 years into it. Raising good meat in a healthy, natural environment is the full time business, not a hobby, and the goal the family states plainly is to build practices sustainable enough to still be here in another hundred years.

Everything starts with the grass. Cattle, sheep, hogs, chickens and wildlife are raised together on native grasses, with room to roam, sunshine, natural creek water and miles to meander. All cattle at Holland Ranches and its partnering ranches are pasture raised and grass fed. A local, Texas state inspected, family owned butcher shop cuts and vacuum packs the meat, and the beef is dry aged 14 to 18 days for tenderness and flavor.
